German: "Interkulturelle Patenschaften"

A micro-loan is not always appropriate to help a family in an economically difficult situation. For this reason the domino foundation has started an intercultural sponsorship program early 2010. This creates the opportunity for children from underprivileged circumstances to have an education. Pastors and teachers make contact with those families and arrange financial support accordingly.

The sponsorship stands on three pillars:

• The parents pay a small amount of the school fees according to their ability and in order to further awareness of their personal responsibility.

• A further amount is paid by a local sponsor who is a member of the wider family of the child's environment. This is necessary to minimize foreign dependency and to stimulate the awareness of social responsibility in the community.

• The remaining balance is covered by sponsorship from the domino foundation.

The prerequisite for sponsorship support is the self-initiative of the family.
